Hot Snacks: 5 Spicy Appetizers For Midweek Munchies

Are you a college student with finals coming up?  A parent who is still searching for holiday gifts?  Maybe your just bored of the same old, same old.  No matter what your reason for stress is, we have a hot list for you today.  And because we at Buzzard Billy’s know that everyone is busy this time of year, we made this list entirely appetizers.  Stop by, snack with your friends, and get back to studying, shopping, or whatever is occupying you in a hurry.  These spicy treats will light the fire in you that you need to keep going.

1.  Armadillo Eggs- Okay, so they aren’t actual armadillo eggs.  Armadillo’s don’t even lay eggs.  But trust me, these are a must have.  These are bacon wrapped chicken strips stuffed with jalepenos and pepper jack cheese.  Probably better than actual armadillo eggs would be (I mean, these have bacon.)

2.  Buffalo Shrimp- Everyone really enjoys buffalo chicken wings, right?  We’ve brought that southern kick to seafood now, too.  Shrimp breaded in spicy seasoned flour (made with Frank’s Original Redhot Sauce).  Served with ranch, for those who need it cooled down a bit.

3.  Pepperjack Cheese Bites- Similar to Wisconsin deep fried cheese curds, only with jalepeno pepper jack cheese instead of cheddar.  Simple, spicy, and an absolute delight.

4.  Cajun Popcorn- This isn’t actually popcorn.  These are deep-fried crawdad tails, served with New Orleans remoulade.  Don’t know what remoulade is?  Imagine tartar sauce, but spicy.  Definitely worth a try…or two…or three.

5.  Oysters Chipotle- fresh fried oysters on chips with house special chipotle and pico de gallo on top.  A must for seafood lovers and those into spicy dishes.

These are just some of the delicious appetizers we have to offer.  Feel free to stop by and try some of the other, less spicy dishes as well.  And don’t be afraid to stay for more than an appetizer too!

Buzzard Billy’s LAX Logo

Untitled-6

Every successful business needs a proper and fitting image to represent it, and Buzzard Billy’s is no exception. A logo is important because it gives customers a feeling of what their business is all about, even before they set foot inside. With this and mind, we created the logo pictured above, and were able to able to answer the questions asked when creating a logo:

What is the exact wording of your business, website, brand, tagline, etc., that should appear in the logo?
It might be a tad difficult to tell, but on the left-handed side is “Buzzard Billy’s”, and on the right, it says “Downtown La Crosse”. It seemed rather pointless to add a giant amount of text to the logo. Text is for a website or blog, a logo needs to be simple

What was the idea behind the name of our business, website, brand, etc.?
The important thing about Buzzard Billy’s is the Cajun theme it represents, as a result: Buzzards and Gators are very important to this restaurant. If you look closely, you’ll see that the Buzzard and Gator are placed in a position to show a circle in the middle of them, one revolves on the other.

What products, services, content, or qualities do we offer?
Again, this logo needed to be simple, and as a result: the three most important pieces that we felt necessary to add to the logo were the Buzzard, the Gator, and the text Downtown La Crosse.

Who is our target audience?
Our target audience is really anyone who is hungry and wants to try something adventurous. Eating Gator isn’t exactly as routine as a Hamburger or Hot Dog, and it does take a bit of variety to agree to such a thing

What words best describe the qualities of our business, website, brand, etc.?
A few words to describe Buzzard Billy’s would be: Unique, Friendly, and Adventurous.

What sort of look and feel is required in our logo?
The look and feel required for this logo was a mix of elegance and informality. While Buzzard Billy’s is a franchise with multiple restaurants in the United States, the Cajun-style that it represents undoubtedly gives you that sense of that this isn’t your average restaurant, and certainly not your fine-dining lean cuisine.

What colors best represents our business, website, personal brand, etc.?
The colors Brown (for Buzzards), and Green (for Gators), of course!

3 Things We Love About Thanksgiving

It’s almost here, that magical holiday that brings your whole family together (and no, we don’t mean Christmas).  Thanksgiving is coming, the weather is changing, and we are getting ready for it all the right way here in La Crosse.  And just like everyone else, Buzzard Billy’s is excited for a day of turkey (yes, we eat turkey for Thanksgiving, we don’t live off of gator) and football.  Here are the 3 best things about Thanksgiving here in La Crosse:

3.  The Rotary Lights

Currently under construction, La Crosse’s annual Christmas light display is quite the marvel.  These beauties will be ready for the public the day after Thanksgiving.

2.  The Packers Game

The only thing better than gorging yourself on tons of turkey is gorging yourself on tons of turkey and watching your favorite football team play.  And while it’s not a home game (they play at Detroit) we still hope to see plenty of TJ Chedderheads (a business right across the street from us!) famous cheese heads in the stands.

1.  The La Crosse Community Thanksgiving Dinner

Is your family going to be away? Can’t get away from work for the weekend and so you’re missing out on travel plans?  The La Crosse Community Thanksgiving dinner is a traditional style Thanksgiving dinner held in the La Crosse center, free of charge and open to everyone.  Isn’t our community great?

And while some of you may be leaving to see family elsewhere, we hope those of you staying here cash in this turkey day on the great opportunities our community offers, and give thanks for our wonderful city of La Crosse!
